  • Capture program for ADVC100?

I'm looking for a simple but reliable capture program to use with a Canopus ADVC100.

Vast editing suites such as Mediastudio are 99% overkill. All I need is the capture part.

I've tried DVIO but while it says it is capturing, no file is generated (same issue with a limited demo version from Studio 8).

WinDV1.2.3 works in preview, but recorded files are corrupted and won't play back (I have Canopus DV playback codec installed. Using a TI OHCI card)

Any other software I can try? Preferably freeware or inexpensive software. Budget is limited.

    Thanks!

I use MSPro with my ADVC-100 but, as you say, it is overkill. You may vare to use it's little sister, VideoStudio, though. It is cheap and you can get previous versions, say v. 8, on Ebay for next-to-nothing.

        Thanks, I'll first try Scenalyzer.

I'm a bit wary buying those software packages on Ebay. From what I hear, a lot of these are pirated. But I'll check it out anyway.

For my Canopus ADVC 55 I use Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7, which does a good job capturing DV from firewire port.

thanks, but even older versions of MS are overkill, especially on the price front.

I've gotten WinDV to work, but on another PC (an XP system, whereas the other one is W2K - are there DV issues on W2k?)

I tried WinDV some time ago, but As I remember I couldn't monitor the sound and/or video while capturing. That's not very handy I think...
I found no DV issues in Windows 2000SP4.
