  • 4 monitors on 1 card - it is already done...

I've found something by mistake. But it's cool.
Graphic card that is not matrox & got 4 output screens support:

True bot nvidia is crap for me (to low image quality on CRTs)
I'm wondering when Matrox die in this case. Is there any thing that ATI or nVidia can't do excluding SurroundGaming (that is not used in work) ?

Supposedly the Quadro cards are really good these days in image quality (best next to Matrox according to many reviewers).

What they can't do other than surroundgaming? Hmmm... they can't do field-perfect TV-Out or SCART-RGB support. As far as non-TV output related issues.. no idea, but not much is my guess

FYI I've never been impressed with analog graphics quality on Appian boards.

I put an NVidia NV280 Quadro Dualhead card into my workstation@work: This is an Excellent card. Very good IQ and also excellent Multi-monitor support (it uses a funky LFH60 Connection like the Matrox MM cards use): some of the NView features are actually quite useful.

I liked it so much, I purchased three from FleaBay and am now using them on all of my 2D machines. (Blasphemy? Possibly.) But NVidia does have their drivers well-sorted out. Nvidia's is also working on Multi-core/SMP-aware drivers (which was another deciding factor).

About 70% of poeple here still use CRT monitors. & I think using LCD in graphic studio is bad idea too (ofcourse there are LCDs that got "real" 16M colors now, but in the same prize segment, what a nice CRT could be purchased ).

I have gone LCD for a looong time, and even on analog my 2 NVIDIA cards are great. Must have something to do with how liquid crystals work vs. a CRT gun.

Besides, 4 monitors on 1 card? I don't think most people (including MURCers) have 4 CRTs connecting to a machine.
As I said earlier... Analogue output is very good on Quadro cards, better than nearly all other cards available.

nVidia used to have crappy quality on their Geforce2/3/4 cards, but I haven't even heard many complaints about their FX line and later regarding analogue image quality. Their Quadro line is in a completely different league regarding analogue output filtering etc.
