  • MPEG2 vs DV for analogue input-output

Can anyone help me with this? I have to edit Betacam SP (PAL) footage and I was thinking of doing it on the RT2000. The final output will be analogue - back to a Betacam SP (PAL) deck - but is not meant for broadcast. Now which is preferable:

    1. I digitise the footage into DV, edit in DV (at 25MB/sec) and output to a Beta deck or

    2. I digitise into MPEG2 (again at 25MB/sec) and then output to a beta deck?

In other words, are the losses (of converting to and from Betacam) more with DV or with MPEG2 @ 25 MB/sec? Please do let me know if you've tried this.

    Many thanks!

I'd just use the S-Video connections in and out with DV as the format.
