  • countdown to exam started...

    Hello guys!

Well, the appointment has been made: on Wednesday, August 17 - if the weather permits - I'll attempt to get my pilot license...

Even though I have seen everything necessary, my instructor and I have planned some specific exercise flights (additional navigation, additional circuits, ...).

I'm beginning to feel strangely nervous already...

                    Thanks guys...

The exam consist of a number of manouvres: slow flight (= 55 kts !, during which you must climb/descent/turn), stalls (including with full flaps), steep turns (30-45° bank angle), precission landings, emergency landings (no engine), precautionary landings (minimizes ground roll) and a navigation flight (including landing, diversions, ...).

It could be that the manouvres are tested during the navigationflight. All in all it should take a couple of hours...

sound much more thorough than your regular driver's license exam

I guess they should do it for cars too

                        Oh they almost did here...

"drive backwards into the garage so that you'll be in the center of it, nevermind that usually driver wants to get out of the car once in garage"
"don't bring car closer than 0,5 m to the wall"
"at all costs turn back in narrow place (3 turns) pretending that your car doesn't have power steering and it weights a lot"

But OTOH I exceeded max speed for 30 km/h in one place

I was more thinking about things like:

-emergency stop with simulated brake failure or,
-emergency recovery of a sliding/spinning car on ice, etc.
