  • timed recording from radio

    Hello,

I'd like to record a radio program to my computer (XP Professional) at a pre-defined time.

My PC is connected to an outlet of my amp; I can set my tuner to start/stop (or I could even leave it on) and I could leave my amp powered on. It is possible to keep the PC running, so there is no need to boot it at a given time.

Is there (free?) software that would allow me to set a time at which the PC would start recording from the line of the PC?

(or can it be done with the windows scheduler?)

    Thanks!

I think that you can get winamp to do it with the 'Write to disc' plugin and an alarmclock plugin. Never tested it however but I have had Winamp playing the line in ok.

http://www.phonostar.com/ and http://www.highcriteria.com/ both have a timer function or maybe just http://streamripper.sourceforge.net/ (don't know if it has a timer function)in combination with winamp.
      Main: Dual Xeon LV2.4Ghz@3.1Ghz | 3X21" | NVidia 6800 | 2Gb DDR | SCSI
      Second: Dual PIII 1GHz | 21" Monitor | G200MMS + Quadro 2 Pro | 512MB ECC SDRAM | SCSI
      Third: Apple G4 450Mhz | 21" Monitor | Radeon 8500 | 1,5Gb SDRAM | SCSI

        Thanks guys!
I'll try first with the Winamp solution...

Keifront: the radio is not streaming, but coming from a line in...

Always thought Creative had a bundled utility that recorded straight to Mp3, with timer function. But not sure if it was just for internet radio.

I don't have the Audigy! software loaded on my machine though.

Could be, but I don't have a Creative... I'm using the Realtek AC97 (onboard).

According to Tucows, Audiograbber ( http://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/ ) can do it.
I'll give that one a go first (seems like the less hassle ).
