My favorite band Machinae Supremacy has a lot of their songs for free, which got me to buy two copies of their album 
Last night I checked out http://wiki.etree.org , http://bt.etree.org and http://www.archive.org/audio/etree.php. I hadn't been to any of them in a while and there's more good stuff now then before.
They have a lot of great live recordings of bands. Pretty sweet stuff. It's not all Grateful Dead either
I'm getting Jack Johnson, Maroon 5, Derek Trucks Band, Jason Mraz to name some famous bands.
