Hi Peeps'n'Geeks,
here at work, one of our Tyan Thunder K7 stopped working altogether.
I tried basically everything to troubleshoot, ie. ripped out all components, incl. CPU & RAM, PSU etc. and replugged everything bit by bit, while trying to power it up between each step of dis- and re-assembling.
The only visible sign of life is a short blinking of it's onboard NIC LEDs when physically hooking up the PSUs main power chord, after that nothing happens ... no beeps, no ever so slight fan movement, nothing at all ...
I even shuffled CPUs back and forth, ie. both MP2400+ as single CPU setup in CPU slot 1, both CPUs in dual setup with change of slots and even dug out our olden MP1200 CPUs and tried those in single and dualmode.
Still dead silent.
Consequently, I suspected the mainboard being broken for whatever reason and ordered as replacement board a Tiger MPX, that is also supposed to support our CPUs and believe it or not, this new board shows exactly the same behaviour, ie. it stays dead silent when trying to power it up.
Now I'm completely lost what the real problem could be and would like you folks to give me a few ideas about what the problem could be and/or how to nail it down further.
TIA for any pointers, hints and ideas !
