My Firefox doesn't seem to detect the update when I click "check for updates" in the "tools->options-advanced" screen.

What's the recommended update procedure?

From what I understand, the update thingy won't be working till next week.

Till then it's recommended to use MozUpdate to backup you current settings., uninstall 1.0, install 1.0.1 and restore your settings afterward.

I really like MozUpdate. I use it to backup my Firefox stuff a couple times a week.

I just installed 1.0.1 over existing v1.0 installation and had no any problem.

I just now got around to installing the new version.
I've noticed a MAJOR significant speed boost.
The difference to me is like night & day.

When an web application asks for a older version of Java, Firefox installs the latest regardless of whats installed on the system unless the version required is already installed.

It then asks again and then again.

The same web app works fine with IE.

The solution is too run the early version and never ever install a later version. Once you do thats it. The app will never work with firefox again.
