  • The news in 10x10

Thought this was interesting, if not lacking in practicality...

10x10 is a news aggregator of sorts that display a, you guessed it, 10 by 10 grid of pictures linked to specific words that have been pulled from three leading news sites' RSS feeds (updated every hour).

I like the concept, but the implementation is a little weak. The thumbs are too small and vague to grab you, and the hits can be quite unrelated.

I think it has potential for 'lunchtime' browsing on an unplanned journey, and could perhaps even be tailored for for specific trawling.

As I said, it definitely lacks in practicality. The guy who created it has come up with other similar ideas, such as one that ranks words based on their use. The presentation is more about interface design and "art" than a practical implementation that most of us would find useful.

So yes, nice concept, useless as it is presented.
