IE is locked down and you can only go to permiited sites.
I needed to register the computer onto our University network.
Windows update was added to the permitted websites but not our University.
I clicked on windows update and was passed to our University registration page. Whoops.

Whoops? Sounds like okay behavior. Unless you really think your Universities proxies and/or DHCP servers can be hacked often.

Well the machines not going to be used for work so IE isn't going to be used.

I needed IE for Windows updates which you can't do if you use firefox.

As for okay should IE re-direct you to another site via an allowed site???
