  • argh!

woke up this morning to find that a radiator valve had burst
I had removed the radiator last night in order to decorate. When the heating came on this morning, it must have blown the valve.

The ENTIRE flooring on the ground floor has just been ripped up

I'm gonna stay at the in-laws for the next week as its too noisy here with all the fans... (although my server is louder!)

Found the problem - the valve seal had blown.

There was no way we could have known....

oh, and the insurrance policy doesn't cover plumbing

Cheapo insurance policies. Better check what else it doesn't cover.

that sucks, could've been worse I suppose - could have shorted out some electrical appliances.

Or done what ours did 36 hours before we left for China:
                    Blow on the second floor.

Hope you get it cleared up soon.

the damage is covered, but not that actual repair work to the plumbing - odd.

We were lucky in that we had emptyied the room in order to decorate, so the only damage was the flooring.... Its still in the order of £2K though

                          Oh well

Why don't you ask your smartass insurance agent if they will cover getting everything fixed a second time when the broken plumbing you cant afford to fix bursts again?

It should cost me £7 to replace the valve, elbow joint and soldier.
It's just a PITA to drain the heating system (especially after it has just drained on the floor!
