  • Jurys to be informed over previous convictions in child abuse cases

This is one thing I do disagree with, as it will strongly influence the jury leading more miscarrages of justice.

In tests conviction rates went up by 50%.

Police will just round up the regular suspects to keep the press quiet. They won't be all that bothered when the wrong person is sent down until the person offends again.

This policy will also be extended to other crimes at a later date.

I thought juries were supposed to be totally unbiased.

Is this a UK only change to the law?

      Yes.

To be honest how can a jury be impartial??? They read the papers for months before the trial.
