  • Tribes Vengeance Surround HUD

    Hello,
    I love this game ... it's awesome in Surround !
    I am playing it 3840x1024 with everything turned up to the MAX except for Bumps, Shadows and Glow Detail ...
    Bumps slows it down ... Shadows don't work at all ... and Glow Detail does strange things to the graphics.
    So they are all set to Low/Off.

    Anyway ...
    I was unhappy that the HUD for Tribes Vengeance when in Surround ... it was too far out on the side screens.
    So ... I moved the important bits of it on to the centre screen... and made the Radar a little bigger.
    It only works for 3840x1024

    Get the new Centre Screen HUD here ... TribesHUD.ini

    Just swap my ... TribesHUD.ini for the original one found in the ... VUGames\Tribes Vengeance\Content\System ... folder.
    REMEMBER to BACKUP your original.

    I have tested it in several of the Single Player levels and 3 or 4 Multiplayer maps and all seems fine ....
    BUT... it may not be perfect ... so ...if anyone finds a problem please let me know and I will see if I can fix it ...

    Note .... not all the elements have been moved on to the centre screen...

    Enjoy ...

    Some screens ...

    I got the game last week, and been playin it.
    Seems cool so far. I love the ski/jet stuff
    But for me, surround mode ain't cuttin it.
    My crappy monitors won't do 1280x1024 at a reasonable refresh rate (drops to 60Hz).
    So what I need is a way to play the game at 3072x768 or 2400x600.....

      Also, any idea how to turn off the head bob?
      The user.ini variables from UT2004 are not in this user.ini, and adding them doesn't seem to do anything.
      Head bob = motion sickness.

        Sorry Kruzin I can't help on the Head Bob thing.

        You should be able to play at 3072x768 or 2400x600 you just won't get some of the menu text... you just need to memorize the menus ...

        This might help a small amount ...

        If you change your TribesGUIState.ini .... so the resolutions read ...

        ScreenResolutionChoices=1920x480
        ScreenResolutionChoices=2400x600
        ScreenResolutionChoices=3072x768
        ScreenResolutionChoices=1024x768
        ScreenResolutionChoices=800x600

        You will then get these resolutions in the menu "in game" so you can set everything up whilst in 1024x768 then just change the resolution in the game to 3072x768 or 2400x600.

        Hope some of this helps ...

          I have updated the HUD so that the Turret Healthbar is now on the centre screen.
          I forgot it first time around.

          I also increased the size of the weapons and item icons .... only a little ...
          It still only works for 3840x1024.

            Hi Kruzin ...
            I did a little digging around on the Tribes Forums ...

            To turn off Weaponbob/Headbob at the console type ...

            Set Pawn bWeaponsBob false

            To enable console add... - console ... to the target line in the Tribes Vengeance shortcut. The console key is ...Tab

            It works for me ... but you need to enter it each time you play
