  • convert SCSI to IDE

Can I convert the interface on my Plextor 121024s so that I can run it off an IDE cable?

My SCSI adaptor has died and the only thing i use it for is the CDRW so I don't want to replace it. If I cant get my SCSI write to work I guess i'll end up replacing that....

I've never seen a SCSI to IDE convertor but you could probably get/use a SCSI to USB convertor

No. Probably cheapest is to get a e-bay scsi controller.

There are SCSI-IDE converters, but they are usually to allow IDE devices to be connected on a SCSI bus, not the other way around... And even they are in the $100 range...

Guess a cheap SCSI adapter would be your best option...

For a 1210S, a 412S or a CDR100; it's probably actually worth getting a replacement card. For any other drive...

I just saw the new NEC dual-layer burner for $70. A new bruner is cheaper than a new card.

I have a spare Ultra scsi card at home i could send it in a jiffy bag. It's a no name one. with a 50 pin ribbon connector. I think its' the 20mb/s one. As my 4x yamaha scsi writer died an early death.

Cheers for all the help guys! Especially for the offer of kit!

I think I will end up replacing the drive, but if I can get an adaptor for cheap, then I can shove it in my server box

                    Cheers lads!

I have the same drive Love that Plextor drive... Though I'll be getting a DVD burner soon. I won't be replacing that Plextor, just my DVD Rom that crapped out.... (see the thread pertaining to Star Wars...) I'll be getting that new Plextor drive (assuming nothing else in life kicks me in the nuts, which always happens....)
