  • Projection TV with 100Hz PC input?

Do these exist? If so, and they exist at a decent size (50" would be cool) it could be a good alternative for some VR work we have planned.

    TIA

Would this be another one of those "what can I get for home on the Department budget" things again?

hehe - its not like I could take it home for the weekend!

No, its genuine VR research. If such a device exists, it could suit this particular application just as well as a separate rear data-projector and screen. It needs to accept a 100Hz signal so we can get stereo with the active glasses.

      Anyone? KvH?

      TIA.

An option with two projectors, polarizer lenses and polarizer filters in front of the projectors is out of the question?
(I saw this setup demoed at Barco about 6 years ago, while they were showing off digital cinema )

You just have to make sure the polarizers are oriented differently for left and right, and match resp. the projector with the image for left and the image for right... While you still only have half of the light (so the image is darker, as with active glasses), there is no more flickering and the glasses are much simpler and lighter (just simple passive polarizers; don't even need a connection).

We have Barco displays here at work in our labs. They're BIG dollar. Like, more than some people make in a year big.

Crikey. But to be honest. I reckon you could build that frame yourself. 2 second hand low res projectors and a couple of squares of polaroid film. A few mirrors. And one of those things you get on the back end of a bus. With a P-650 etc. (Dual hardware overlay).
