try reducing the AGP speed one notch with MTSTU. G400 is sensitive to noise on the AGP bus; it'll crash if it runs too fast.

if what dZeus suggests doesn't work, what agp aperture size have you got set in bios?
iirc you need 128 or 256MB

Have you tried any other 3D applications?
Just to make sure the problem isn't only with 3Dmark...

so did you try running at 1x AGP with MTSTU? did it help?

also try re-installing the AGP GART driver for your motherboard chipset.

because instabilities will show up depending on lots of factors. Appearantly the circumstances are there with 3dmark2001 and not with final reality.

Try changing the AGP drive strength in the motherboard BIOS. I recall some motherboards with VIA chipset needing this setting to be changed. Use the search on this forum to see what value should be used.

Via chipset and an early one as well although the Epox was one the few I had that worked out of the box for me.

I'd load up bios fail safe defaults then try running 3dmark again. It also maybe worth while re-installing 3dmark.

in your mainboard's BIOS, make sure you have set the VGA boot sequence to "AGP first" or whatever it might be labelled, so that your system doesn't try to utilize a PCI gfx card

also, if you have a "turbo" option in your BIOS, disable it and see if it helps.

You could always try later cough Via drivers.

Also run dxdiag and check that everything is enabled and happy
