      That's what I hear.

I run a 2.8 GHz Northwood o/c'ed to 3.5 GHz (in order to get a 1 GHz FSB). Runs fine with hardly a temperature rise and HTPC cooling. Running with a 400 watt PS (Silverstone ST40F) and a BFG 6800 GT OC (at Ultra speeds plus).

Don't need any heat for Winter. My Mother will do that. Normally I have my Windows open and heating off in my rooms and the temp never falls below 70F.

I can get the Prescott for £205 inc vat while the Northwood would cost £234 inc vat.

Prescott might be faster when the new SSE instructions and HT2 start getting used...

If in doubt read the reviews. P4 northwood it's going to be.

Take my advice and get a power supply with a whole hell of a lot fo current on the +12V rail. These are the ones I've found that can push the most current:

              OCZ PowerStream 550 W

When looking at pure current scores, this one from PC Power & Cooling rules: PC P&C Turbo-Cool 510 Deluxe

              Antec TRUE550

              Enermax 550W

And by the time you get your new system, AMD will have second gen PCIe boards out, so I wouldn't lock in to Intel just yet
