    Hi
Question for Dr Mordrid if I may.
I`m in the process of building a new system for My RT.X100, based around the K7S8XE, and I wondered which pci slot is best for the RT.X?

    Specs are

    K7S8XE, xp3200, 1Gb 333ram, P650 graphics, either santa cruz or videologic sonic fury sound card, 107 DVD-RW.

Everything but the p650 I already have, pulled from my existing edit comp or new.
I was going to have 400ram but it can only support it in 1 slot, so I`m going for 333 tho it will possibly drop the 3200 to 3000, is that correct?
I`ll be using Premiere 6.5 can`t get My old head around Pro.

Any suggestions gratefully received, Dr Mordrid has never steered Me wrong before(grovel)

    Peter.

Can't help you much...but I think that the cpu won't drop to 3000 - its fsb will run asynchrynuosly to the memory clock

(and this will probably have greater impact on performance than simply choosing a little lower rated athlon that has 333fsb, so it will run synchronuosly (but I'm not sure about that - it was surely the case in the old days, but now? aaand - this was the case in general use...I don't know nothing about how it looks in video editing))

          Hi
Just checked My K7S8XE & its a revision 3, with 5pci slots, don`t remember where I read it only supports 400 in 1 ram slot, I think I`m wrong, according to reviews, lucky Me going for 1gb 400!

Just posting as an Update, yet to build the thing!

Next step is getting the case, Lian-Li, dam* the expense.

          Peter.
