  • need advice on P650

    Hello everyone.

    Would like to use 2 monitors for day-trading stocks. No gaming / 3D.

    * LCD 21", DVI and VGA, max resolution 1600/1200
    * LCD 17", VGA, max resolution 1280/1024

    Decided to consider P650 as I was told that P550 had some limitations in terms of max resolution - MAX 1280x1024 when you use DVI on secondary - apparently affects both primary and secondary monitors.

    So:
    * is Matrox the way to go for my needs, or ATI or Nvidia will provide alternative options - even cheaper?
    * anyone aware of any limitation when two monitors with different resolutions are used?

    Thank you very much, your help is invaluable - need opinions from people who've been there done that.

    Dan

    I don't have P650 myself, but I'm pretty sure it will be just fine for you:

    - 1600 x 1200 dual digital and 1920 x 1440 dual analog resolution
    - Dual-DVI outputs with independent resolution support

    There's also an optional "TripleHead upgrade kit" available for this card, if you want the third monitor later:

        I have a Parhelia (4x) for sale, if you'd like one of those instead

        Wah! Wah!

          Or just buy the P750...

            Yep.

            P650 has a passive cooling and it may be slightly slower than P750, witch has an active cooling and support for triplehead by default. I don't know if you can actually see the difference in performance...
