      I'll have to run some benches this morning. I was running the detected setting of HQ at 16x12 last night at full tilt (can't get 19x12 working yet). I then tried Ultra and it was really nice so I oc'ed the CPU some. Bumped the 2.8 GB P4 up 20% to 3.36 GB at 1:1 AGP and ran Ultra full tilt at 16x12!!!. Shiznit!!! I haven't even tried bumping up the BFG 6088 oc yet. Time to take off the leash and see what the timedemo does this morning ...

      The Utra settings look way much better than HQ ... I was shocked at the difference. This game looks sharp as a tack feeding it digitally to my UWXGA 23" LCD and its smooth as silk. What more can one want?! Looks like I'm an NVIDIA man this go ... sorry ATI ... you didn't get your act together in time for me.

          Actually just getting around to playing with it. I also want to see if my system will reach its targeted 25 percent oc -- the memory is guaranteed to run at that speed. I'm going to play with oc'ing on the GPU as well as I hear there's some life left in these BFG ocs. Don't know how much I'll get done tonight but I need to decide for sure on this card by tomorrow (30 day return). Just came back to my old PC to check again on how to get into the console.

              Re: Doom3 scores

              2.8 GHz P4 oc'ed 20% to 3.36 Ghz
              BFG 6800 GT oc
              1 GB Corsair TwinX1024-4000 DDR Memory

              High Quality

              10x7:
              52.2

              8x6:
              53.6

              8x6 w/4X(game setting):
              52.2

              Interesting it didn't suffer so tried 8x ...
              36.7

              Ultra Quality settings

              1600x1200 w/ 16XAA(game setting):
              6.7

              The 16x AA really knocks it to its knees, but who runs AA at 16x12 and above (my 19x12)?

              Decided to try for my golden 25% oc and I was delighted to see it ran this Ultra test with my 2.8 GHz P4 now running at 3.5 GHz and my goal is met by getting the 1 GHz bandwidth through the memory. Very happy to see this system running at my target rates so I can handle the video processing I want. The Ultra test netted the same result, 6.7 FPS, so the GPU is limiting this run. I'll try bumping up the GPU tomorrow (later today).

              P.S. Amazingly, my CPU own heats up a couple degrees through all of this.

              P.P.S. -- Disregard these numbers as I've found that I didn't benchmark correctly and these numbers are all somewhat lower than actual. I'll repost later with more and accurate numbers.

                          Qiuncunx doesn't really do antialiasing, it's more or less simple blurring, that's what's wrong with it.
                          I'd rather not use any AA than Quincunx which really degrades image quality.

                          Why don't you use one of the real antialiasing settings? Your card should be fast enough still...

                              10*7 -> 53.3fps

                              Black Ice Extreme 2x120mm size Radiator with 2x120mm papst @7V.
                              36C full load. 1.775V Rock solid.
                              tried 13x and 13.5x and 14x and 15x, but couldnt get above 133mhz fsb.
                              Best option, and the one it would stably boot at, was 12.5x207. The memory bandwidth at 2-3-3-10 was only worth it if i could get the fsb above 215, and at 215 the system locked all the time very rapidly, which made getting into the bios and undoing it very difficult. i'm happy now. will stop pissing around with it and just play doom3.

                              just for fun:
                              Aquamark3 : 47464
                              3DM'03: 6487

                              Doom3 is very fluid in 10*7 in High quality, there is only a very slight lag whenever an enemy is 'spawned'. so i know when they are just around the corner not all the time, but most of the time...
                              Might go for a 6600 when they come out, seeing as i wont be upgrading now until the NV50 and R500 are out...
