  • Matrox announces new low-profile PCI cards

    Here you go.
I believe this hasn't been posted here yet.

    Which is nice,

But I thought they have had a low profile 550 out for a quite while already?

A PCI M650 could be quite a sweet addon card for adding good TV out and good mutimonitor support to system which already has a decent 3d card.

That is correct, I've seen one of those low-profile G550s on eBay. Was thinking it'd be pretty cool to get one for a HTPC.

Silly question. Could I use one of these as my primary 2d and my 9800 pro purely for games?

I believe this could be done via setting different hardware profiles in Windows (you can choose either one of them at startup):

For 2D: Matrox card enabled, ATI card disabled
For 3D: Matrox card disabled, ATI card enabled

I just don't know if the BIOS settings has an effect on this. There is this "Primary VGA (AGP/PCI)" option or similar...

I've wanted a fairly cheap pci p series for some time. This looks like an ideal oportunity.

It's much easier, you can switch your primary monitor in the display properties of windows.
              Main: Dual Xeon LV2.4Ghz@3.1Ghz | 3X21" | NVidia 6800 | 2Gb DDR | SCSI
              Second: Dual PIII 1GHz | 21" Monitor | G200MMS + Quadro 2 Pro | 512MB ECC SDRAM | SCSI
              Third: Apple G4 450Mhz | 21" Monitor | Radeon 8500 | 1,5Gb SDRAM | SCSI

Don't most games let you choose which display driver they use?
