  • 2GB file split in W2000 (NTFS) with Matrox-VCR?

Is there anybody, who captures with PC-VCR in W2000 with NTFS-partition? Will I get only one avi-file or it will be splitted?

I'm going to upgrade from W98SE to W2000 - primary because of the 'snowy frames' problem (please see the thread 'Capture problem...') - and secondary I would like to capture with the Matrox-VCR program without lost frames until the next 2GB-file is created.

    Thanks and regards
    Mike

Using the Matrox codec about all you'll get is 2 gigs regardless. I don't believe it's OpenDML compliant, a necessity for exceeding 2 gig captures.

The best way to go is to use the 1.52 video tools, the YUY2 patch and capture direct to PICVideo or Morgan MJPeg using AVI_IO. These MJPegs don't have some of the more annoying problems of the Matrox/Zoran codec. They are also OpenDML compliant. PICVideo is freely licensed and can capture up to 5 mb/s.
