  • Deus Ex vs. System shock

    What's the difference (gameplay) ?
    Which is better ?
Would I better post the last question as a poll ?
    Would such a poll cause a WW-III ?
Would it be better for everyone if I shut the f*** up now ?

System Shock is much older, and doesn't have as good as graphics for one thing.

Deus Ex's plot is really sweet and has three endings. It deals with a lot of conspiracy theories and such. You get cybernetic upgrades in it. Excellent game.

I haven't played the original System Shock, but I have played System Shock 2.
It's a bit different in style, because you get psionic powers in it. And the plot is quite different. But both games are quite good.

The game play is actually similar in both games. They are both slow and creepy type . I would agree with leech System Shock is a bit old so graphics wouldn’t be as good as Deus Ex. Play both if you have time. They are both good games

SS2 was more involving for me, I just liked the story better. In Deus Ex, almost all of your upgrades augment your fighting ability. By midway through the game, the non-physical upgrades become irrelevant (you always have enough keys, etc). With SS2, investing effort as a scientist or technician pays off in different ways.

And SS2 makes me run out of bullets. No game ever makes me run out of bullets.

I've been playing Alias lately.... that game doesn't give you crap for bullets. If you can manage to take out a guy with a gun before he is able to shoot you at all, you can have up to 15 shots... but it takes about 5 or 6 shots to take a guy down... So most of the time you end up having to beat the crap out of them.

All this talk about these two games makes me want to play them again, I never did get around to beating either of them.

Currently playing Deus EX 2 (invisible war). It's a cool game but according to the reviews the first one was much better.

Same here, Wombat. Couldn't get into it. The fact that they dumbed it down from the first one, and it was a Console port, just pissed me off to much to play it. That and the performance was like ass! (though they've fixed with ini hacks and patches..)
