where is possible to compare prices like

    http://www.pricewatch.com

www.pricescan.com seems to have a different set of vendors and better success for "consumer electronics" than pricewatch.

Yahoo shopping has found me some pretty good deals in the past.

For my camcorder I went straight to the large NYC photo outlets I've been getting still photographsy stuff from for eons -- Adorama and Focus Camera. I got a price that was $50 less that the best I had found by web searching when my TR7000 was new from Focus.

There is also CNET's Shopper.com, but they don't seem to know about cameras...

Some yes, some no. What I'd do is a search of the DejaNews for the name of the ones you're considering. If anyone complained you'll find the thread.

www.resellerratings.com is a good place to start.

You'll find horror stories about every vendor
but I've never had a problem with Adorama or Focus. They have been supplying my still photography needs for almost 20 years.

I've been dealing with Adray Appliance in Dearborn, Michigan USA for over 25 years.

Don't let the name fool you. Half of their block-long store is pro and semi-pro photographic gear. Cameras, lenses, film, darkroom gear, studio gear & literature. Even telescopes & digital photo gear. If they don't have it, they'll get it. They even supply medical and police photo gear.

They even have an on-staff specialist in birding optics & birding photography.

              Great place.
