  • Marvel G200 on i845 board?

    Hello guys,

I stopped using my marvel G200 quite a while ago but I
still have a spare P4-based PC around with a i845-based motherboard that might be adequate for video capturing.
Is the Marvel compatible with that chipset, or will it fry my motherboard?

The Marvel G200 is a 2x AGP card which will require 3.3 volts. Check your mobo specs to see if it supports these settings.

I think you will find that you cannot even physically insert your Marvel into the AGP slot, if you have the AGP version. If you have the PCI version it MAY work but no guarantee. Of course, ideally, you will want to have W98SE to boot into it.

If you have the PCI version (Good on you! ), it should work just fine. Just try not to have it sharing an interrupt with anything else. As Brian said, use Win98SE if it is the PCI version. The drivers for W2K and XP don't work nice.

If it's an AGP card, then it's only gonna fry your board.

          It's AGP, unfortunately.

Oh well, I'll leave it then.
