  • G450 upgrade to Parhelia 128 mb possible?

    Please excuse my newbie question.

I'm using a Dell workstation 330 (win2K) with an AGP Pro slot on the motherboard. The system was built/delivered with a G450 card (2001). How can I figure out if this computer is compatible with the Parhelia-512? I want the Parhelia because I work in the 3D animation market.

if it supports at least agp 4x, it *should* have no problem with a parhelia

Sounds good. The documentation is unclear, stating it is AGP Pro. I'll check with Dell to see what that bus actually accepts.

      Thanks.

AGP Pro slots accept standard AGP cards as well. The "Pro" extension is actually just extra power pins for power-hungry cards.

I've not heard of an AGP Pro motherboard that was less than AGP 4x speed, but I suppose they could exist.
Blah blah blah nick blah blah confusion, blah blah blah blah frog.

It should work, but check this thread at Matrox's forums:

Some models of Dells have system resource issues, and require a BIOS update...
