  • Rainbow Runner G and dropped frames

    Hi
I have G400 and RR-G in my machine. I tried capturing some VHS material to make VCD. It seems that RR-G drops a lot of frames when capturing from composite source. Also commercial material seems to screw up things with copy protection, after a few minutes captured avi loses color. When capturing from tuner, loses just a few frames. Interestingly, it drops more frames when capturing non-commercial material from VHS (concert I recorded from TV myself). Anyone with better results? Recommendations? I thought RR-G should drop no frames at all because of its hardware compression?

There are loads of tips on defeating dropped frames both on the forum and at the main site www.desktopvideoworld.com

Composite capture shouldn't be any worse than S-Video - the usual culprits are trying to capture to the same drive as your operating system/swapfile, incorrect or badly set-up HD controller drivers, or occasionally bandwidth problems on the PCI bus.
