What a shock! Do they actually start to care about the linuxers? Hey I hope they don't decrease now the win support ;-))

I don't quite comprehend this...it's a special BIOS for people that want to use just Linux? Or is it a plain BIOS with the sole difference that you can flash it from within Linux? Either way, it makes no sense to me
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

its a linux based bios installer, so you don't need windows to update your bios

seems like a very positive (if odd) linux move

It's good, it gives possibility to enable TV Output in text mode for QID cards.

It means that people are no longer expected to pirate or unnecessarily spend money (and time) on software they are not going to use, something that is definetely positive.

No, it doesn't mean that. The old utility would work on a FreeDOS or PC/DOS boot disk.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

This IS still nice though, means that you don't have to reboot to flash the bios twice... Just once, of course to utilize the Bios. Does this include the LogoFix utility as well? (and hopefully, this means a new driver soon.....)

Rebooting twice, flashing the bios once.

oops, Yeah, that's what I meant. Damn chemicals at work are rotting my brain, what can I say.....

You don't have to reboot twice, just download the bios utilities under linux, flash it and then reboot..... Just ONE reboot, rather than downloading the DOS version of it, running it in DOS and flashing it, then reboot again to go back to linux..

I don't know if I'd trust flashing a bios under FreeDOS or a Dos emulator or anything, that's for sure.

Matrox uses a FreeDOS floppy, I thought. I remember for certain that they used DOS4GW, and I don't trust that all too much.
