  • How to blur faces w/o VideoPaint

    In MSPro....

    1. select the clip in question

    2. apply the Camera Lens/Star video filter

    3. set all the start and stop keyframe values to "1" except for Sun Size and Opacity. Sun Size should be set to cover the face in question and Opacity should be set to 100%. Set the color to a dark blue.

You now have a classic blue face blob. Now to make it track.

    4. the left preview panel will show a cross. Drag this until the first frame with said face is covered by the blue blob in the right preview panel.

    5. click the frame advance until the persons face moves about 1 heads worth. Make a new keyframe here, check the values to make sure they're still as set and drag the cross to the new location. Check the size of the Star as well and adjust as necessary.

    6. repeat for as many keyframes as necessary. You're going to make a LOT of keyframes.

    7. If you need another faced "blobbed" just make another Star and repeat the process for the other face in each keyframe necessary. You can make a LOT of these as well.

    8. this renders rather quickly and has the advantage that you can use the keyframe and frame advance/retreat buttons to correct mistakes, add new keyframes or blobs at will.

Just keep checking those star settings so all but the Sun Size and Opacity are at "1".
