  • P4M266A is it worth it?

is this worth owning for basically free after mail in rebate?
I was thinking about adding it to the parts drawer, in case I ever have to fix someones P4
It is listed for $69.99CDN with $62.99US Mail in rebate and $12CDN shipping

    Anyone know about this board?

12 dollars canadian? what other hardware can you buy? I say, go for it

edit: just put in a celeron, get yourself a monitor, a set of keyboard and mouse, and boom, a new computer.

actually with current exchange rate ( like I will ever get anywhere near that at the bank) the mail in rebate is $83CDN, making the final price after mail in around -$1
I guess for that, It would be worth it.. I can handle them paying me to take the product

If I remember correctly, this chipset was supposedly as good as the i845D chipset. Maybe even slightly better, but almost zero big time and small time motherboard makers made them for fear of Intel screwing them afterwards.

        I say go for it

Via nope wouldn't go anywhere near it. Unless theres someone you really hate and your building a computer for their leaving present.
Whats the southbridge by the way?

            Northbridge: VIA P4M266A
            Southbridge: VIA VT8235
My attitude to VIA has changed a lot, since my KT333 based board is as stable as can be. BTW I don't think that there are any 100% crappy boards out there, as there were a few years ago.

              Shouldn't get data corruption then.

The drivers can break things though as they did not very long ago by turning on the large system cache.
