The best thing which I see here is built-in flash for photo mode. It would be nice if every videocamera which has photo mode has at least a synchronizer for external flash. Dream of idiot...

Hitachi announces DVD-RAM camcorder

The DZ-MV100A. Shipping now for $1999.95

1.1 megapixel CCD (2000 1280x960 stills), 8 cm 2.8 gig DVD-RAM, EIS, external mic jack, built-in flash for photo mode.

MPEG-2 DVD format recording, 60 min recording at 6 mbps, 120 minutes at 3 mbps.

USB, S-video & composite in/out.

So they have finaly released the product. No Firewire. USB support only on Win98. Will be interesting to see the test reports. According to the piece on CNN today you only have to put the disk in your PC and bingo your up and editing.
