  • THE PC-VCR "cursed" REMOTE

I had this same problem a long time ago but cannot for the life of me remember what the fix was. I'll go dig a little...

You could try a search of the archives at the official Matrox forums. Are you installing the software in the default locations? I seem to recall that that deinstalling and reinstalling in the default location was a fix (at one time).

Ah it's all coming back to me now. It's definitely as chm says, this is usually caused by installing the Video Tools into a dir other than the default. The options are to uninstall and reinstall into the default dir or do a little registry hacking. For more info check out the following threads.

I certainly appreciate your help and suggestions - I have spent the last week at the official Matrox forums without a stroke of luck before I found out about this forum.

You guys have already put me light years ahead from where I was...I agree that I'll probably have to do some registry hacking since all the other suggestions have not worked but I am quite a novice at working with the registry unfortunately. Could you possibly tell me what this guy means from this particular thread...(http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/Forum2/HTML/001636.html) this may be my answer but it is not clear to me at all... (I have tried all the other suggestions with no luck)

Again thanks for the time you've spent helping.

          THE PC-VCR "cursed" REMOTE

I hope I won't get egged for this year old problem - but I got a G400TV last week and still have no buttons on my remote.

I am very aware that this is an old problem and I have searched every forum known to man, and I understand that the typical solution is to reinstall video tools in the default directory. I have carefully used the uninstall program(reboot)set monitor to default driver(reboot)install new drivers(reboot)and finally install VT(reboot).

I have tried the last 3 sets of drivers with no luck and have also tried to install VT over itself - NO LUCK!

I have even went into the registry and made sure the VT was pointing to the right drive (another forum suggestion).

Evidently, when I am trying to reinstall, the uninstaller is leaving some registry or folder settings behind without deleting them. (I also saw something in another forum about changing a certain directory? to "your directory", but didn't quite understand it. (sure would like to know though...)

Surely somebody has some past experience with this that can help me (and keep me from having to reformat my hard drive!!!!)

          THANKS
