Ok, I'm sure all of us have had, at one point or another, ordered something over the net and been ripped off, or sent the wrong part, or sent the bad part. Well, I just had such an experience from www.memorylabs.com.

I ordered a 200GB Seagate Baracuda drive. (the nice 7200.7rpm drive..) And instead received a 120gb 7200rpm factory recertified drive, which has no name brand at all on it....

While it was shipped fast, and I received it quickly, that doesn't mean diddly if I have the wrong item!

I ordered this; (second one down)

Now that's quite a bit of difference in price, wouldn't you say? Not to mention quality....

I think that perhaps we should create a sticky for a thread that lists all the places NOT to shop. And if all else fails, start creating sites that list these. Granted there is the rating system, but you get good and bad reviews on these. This one, had mostly good reviews, but well, shows that the reviews don't always tell the truth.... we'll see how these guys handle the exchange process.....

$144 seems pretty cheap for the 200gb seagate, since they are $166 at newegg..

They were $170 at CompUSA, and there was a $70 rebate after that. Usually a rebate that big means that the product is dropping in price. I would have thought $144 was possible.

When I ordered it Saturday, it was actually 134! With shipping and handling it was 152. I don't know why it went up 10 dollars since I ordered it, which I found it quite odd. There hasn't been a reply to by email yet....

What an awful website.

Having to answer 20 questions before even placing a device on order. And having to change then all to "No Thanks" just so they don't charge you through the nose.

My thoughts exactly, AND to top it off, there has been one other site (can't recall which one off hand) that had the EXACT same system. I'll try to find that site again, I belive it was the place I ordered my USB2.0 enclosure from. Are some businesses too lazy to create their own layout/website?

As a side note, I finally got the reply, and they said they'd either cross ship it, or send me a label to ship it back or I could ship it now and they'd credit me back for the shipping. So at least they'll do that, but of course still.... it's irritating to have to wait for it. It's a good thing it isn't for building a system, or I'd REALLy be pissed. Well, actually it kind of is, I was going to take my old 30gb and give it to my bro-in-law for an upgrade to his old 4.5gb drive that he has, but I wanted my 200 around to replace my 30....
