    goddamn computer

This has happened a few times before...
I was in photoshop, just this time, I am not sure if I was the last few times, and my computer restarts itself... I am running Windows XP Home (sorry, shudder...) on a 2.8 Ghz Sony VAIO... 120 Gb HD, Nvidia GeForce FX 5200, 1.5 Gb of DDR RAM. Anyway, after restarting, I get the first message, then "click here", then "click here", and that gives me those boxes... what the hell happened and how can I prevent it? Anyone?

    Sony Vaio?
    There's your problem right there.
Next time, build a real computer.

    sorry...couldn't resist.

    Possibly mis-matched or bad RAM.
With 1.5gig of RAM, you must be running more than 1 stick.
Try removing sticks, running them one at a time till you find the bad one.
    Core2 Duo E7500 2.93, Asus P5Q Pro Turbo, 4gig 1066 DDR2, 1gig Asus ENGTS250, SB X-Fi Gamer ,WD Caviar Black 1tb, Plextor PX-880SA, Dual Samsung 2494s

Ha, fair enough... but it works quite well for what it is... of course that is after I ****ed with it for about 7 hours a day for about 8 days straight.

It probably is the RAM... I put in two new sticks of 512 each... one Kingston and one BRAVO... hrm...

      in my RAM array...

      512 | 256 gap 512 | 256

The two 256s came with the computer... I will check the .dmp files for the dates to see if they correspond with my RAM installations... thanks.

if you suspect its a ram issue then run memtest to see if it finds any problems.

Hey, I just got the exact same error!
(system booted, I logged on, and when I pressed enter it rebooted again; then it worked, but yielded this error...)

Use some registry tool (advised) or msconfig (might not show it) and see if you have a "kernel_fault check" or similar entry at startup.

Sometimes XP puts/starts this thing after a system crash and the effect is that whenever you boot the OS you get that error window at startup without your componetnts being necessarily damaged.

you can also use AIDA32 to see the RAM timings/specs from the comfort of your GUI (no install required, just copy the files wherever).

Remove the non-original RAM and see...
