  • New Computer Case

My current Computer case IS a bit cramped so I decided to get a new one....

My choice fell on the Compucase CI-6926-BL

Frontconnectors is something I don't care about but somebody might be interested

BIG and HEAVY sucker, around 20 pounds

LOTS of SPACE! notice the 2 120mm fan holders

One of the reasons for just this case was the posibility to use 120mm fans without using the saw

    continued...

I don't have all the parts I need to move over all the stuff from my old case yet (missing the fans etc etc)
Will do it next weekend and take lots of more pictures

I love the 120mm fans. I have one sitting in front of my two 10k RPM drives. Keeps 'em nice and cool. Wish I had the spot for the 120mm in the back, but instead I have two 80mm smart fans. Actually the only loud component in my case now is that Thermaltake Tornado (I think that's what it was called). When I do things that make the CPU cycles go crazy, that thing gets louder. Kind of reminds me of cruising in a car, then flooring it....

It's built on the same platform as the Tt Xaser III but probably less expensive How much was it and what is the powersupply?

Oh yeah, and 20 pounds is nothing, my brother's Xaser III weighs over 50 all loaded up :/

Hmmm, I find front usb to be extremely useful ... especially with digital cameras and other stuff you don't want connected all the time.

                  The case was around 100eu
The powersuply is some "ultra quiet" 300w, wich is going OUT of the box

I already got a Cheiftec 420W with dual fans

Nice case . Even the price seems to be reasonable.

                      New Case - Part 2

I did promise more pics so here are some:

                      Old case, Dust collector excellence!

Inside of case, minus the PSU, makes it look less crammed but believe me it was crammed

Just the mobo left, ready to be lifted over to the new case...

Hm, looks ugly, perhaps I'll put it up on ebay "well ventilated case 10eu"

Interior of the new case, spacy

Removed the crappy "silent 300w psu" and the drivecages, I also removed the front usb/sound module, who uses that??

Close shot of the big hdd drive cage, notice the vibration insulation system wich is not that effective...

                        Be gone emi shields

The motherboard just before I fasten it in the case.

Sliding rails wich after some FORCE slides in

Almost done now, the Digital doc 5 that I got can controll 8 induvidual fans after 8 sensors, lots of lots of cables
Over the diskdrive is an cheap fancontroller wich uses PWM and is to be replaced by a Zalman ZM-MFC1 wich uses reostats and dont produses that horrible pulsating motor sound

[Ace Ventura voice] it's alive, IT'S ALIVE!! [/Ace Ventura voice]

Jup, still seems cramped but its not
Added a fan to the mobo chip that is controlled by the digidoc5 and is at 5 volt, it goes on for 10 sec about every other min
The absence of the frontmodule and its cables is also evident

All done, I thought, but what I didnt know was that the fancontroller was PWM

AMD Sticker, in case I would forgot what CPU i got

Looks a bit nicer than before

Now, this is not the last of it since I am replacing that fancontroller with a Zalman ZM-MFC1, I just have to wait for the paint to dry
                              But more about that later
