I was waiting for those to show up. I figured new linux drivers... new windows drivers would have to show up. Any ideas what these fix/break, etc...? I will probably be booted into linux for quite some time, so won't really be able to test these out for a while...

seem very nice indeed, just had enough time to run a benchmark as no gaming time at the mo, and my aquamark score went up 1000 points from 19300 to 20300.
credit where credit is due - Very good work matrox!

Install menu looks different. Can't say I notice anything else different in NWN.

Which means shadows still have to be off if you want anything over 25 FPS at 1024X768 when doing anything other than stand still. No using big summons or the faerie dragon unless you want 5 FPS in fights.

On the up side, it doesn't crash or boot to desktop after a couple hours of play anymore. Actually, I haven't had it crash, ever, recently.

I haven't had the issues with the shadows. I turn all settings to Max and it runs pretty smooth. What patch level are you running? (I'm running 1.59 right now (with Hordes of the Underdark) Haven't played recently though... Haven't had crashes for a LONG time...

                      Newest patch is 1.61=)

My processor might need a bump though. How fast are you running yours? I used to play at 1280X1024 but later on the summons and bigger spells alone kill the framerates(5-6FPS) even on the lowest detail.

I have a 3.06ghz P4... So at this point anything that is slow or choppy, is definitely the video card. I haven't downloaded the 1.61 yet, since haven't played it in quite a while. But maybe now that I have Linux running in Triple Head Independant mode, I can play it again in linux

Clocked it to 2GHz and my shadows still suck. 17 or so FPS. It's horrible to even consider fighting in the wilderness.

Soon as I cast ghostly visage, summon pseudo-dragon familiar, summon succubus, buff them, then get in a battle with more than 2 enemies the frames drop.

There are times when it does stay at around 60, but those are no activity places with minimal light sources too.

I reverted the clockrates down to stock retail and lost about 5 FPS overall. Pretty much on par with everyone else here at stock as far as benchmarks go so it can't be a driver issue.

I'm using FRAPS to determine FPS. Otherwise I couldn't tell you anything other than smooth, choppy, or slideshow=P

Besides: the OpenGL 1.4 extensios GL_WIN_swap_hint is missing...so this beta has just 66% 1.4 compliance vs. 73% the 1.5 has.

                            Nice holidays!
