  • Cool, comcast upgraded my bandwidth

    I now get 4mbps download

This is the speed test I used:

I checked it 5 times and got the average of 4257k

    Not too shabby

BTW, I got an email telling me I was upgraded.

Stupid Comcast. I have a cable box in my backyard, so they had to come by and ask if they could get back there to do some upgrade stuff. So I figured, "Cool, now I can switch to Comcast" but then after I went through and filled out the order form, they sent me an email saying it wasn't in my area yet. And this was about 1.5 months after they upgraded the cable box.... buggers.

Where do you live? Believe it or not, my boss lives in South San Jose(very close to silicon valley) and they don't even offer it yet in his area. I think it's a joke that the #1 tech area in the world can't upgrad the infastructure to offer broadband to some

I got that e-mail about a week ago as well. Boom! Instantly 3 times as fast. Nice! I'm pulling about 450KB/sec. average now.

Lucky buggers. I live in Utah. I know it's offered here because I know a few people with it. It's faster and cheaper than what I have now...

hahaha, I have faster than you!!!

Humming along here with 2Mbps. Although I have to say the latency on my line sucks, makes it difficult to do any gaming on the net...

I'm in Livermore so I assume they will upgrade you soon.

I used to be able to game on the net, or maybe it's just a problem with Raven Shield. Ultima Online worked great, and so did UT2k3. But of course it doesn't help at all that my stupid ass ISP decided without asking me to block my ICMP so I can't ping anything. Which of course means that I can't tell if a server has high latency or not... Buggers.

Cox started blocking ICMP pings a while back because some worm used it to find victims, but they eventually turned it back on. It's capped at 3 Mbit/s down, 256 kbit/s up.

Mine is STILL off, and this after many months. I called them up about this and they just said that some areas were having it turned on, but they couldn't tell me if or when they would stop blocking it for me.
