1: Who is Meron Benvenisti? How credible is he? (He's Israeli geographer, I read interview with him in the papers.)

I'd like to know what's opinion (if any) of him there.

2: What the hell does "hadash" mean?

Some of the commercials on some channels are Israeli and that word appears in nearly all of them.

According to some googling I did in Hebrew about him:
Historian, researcher of ethnical conflicts and was the helper of a professor known for his research about the crussaders.

Other info: Moderate to extreme left wing.
This means that many people (center to right wing) disagree with his opinions about many things. Some even find his subjective opinion stupid because he's sometimes ignoring reality or twisting reality so it'd fit with his ideas.
Once again just to be clear: the people that disagree with him don't disagree about facts, just about the conclusions he draws from them.

*BUT* it's also the name of an extreme left wing party in politics (HAzit Demokratit leSHalom veSHivion = Democratic front for peace and equality)
