  • Doh didn't think of that

As you know I had a faulty cpu well that took out my motherboard as well as luck would have it. So when I transferred my other cpu into it it carried on crashing. Sadly I've now also taken a chunk out of the cpu socket by pulling the lever up too hard so I can't return it either.
Anyway I bought another Asus PC4800-E deluxe as I liked the other one I got. Ooops I need to serial ports it's only got one.
The floppy drive also died but I can get a spare old one from work.

It's got a header for the second serial port on the motherboard.
It looks like a standard connection, too.

Do you not have any sockets on blanking plates from an AT system - it looks like one of those should just plug in.

Thanks for the offer however not all manufactures used standard headers on the motherboard theres no reason to suspect Asus have. Don't want to risk popping another board.

TP you won't hurt it if the pinout is wrong - you just won't get comms. 9-pin serial ports only have several pairs of lines for data and handshaking, no power.
