  • Halflife / Steam problems

I just got the 380 meg steam download...

i like the fact that you do not even need the HL cd to install it, and also the new multiplayer game browser is nice. I've always been a counter-strike fan

    but 2 concerns I have:

    1) When i'm playing, i sometimes experience mouse chopiness, ie, i move the mouse and the game doesn't respond for half a second...

quite unusual.. using keyboard worked fine, and i've never had a problem with earlier HL versions (even with same hardware configuration)... i got sp4, latest via4in1, dx 8.1, 5.88 g200 drivers

i tried playing with in-game mouse settings with no luck, any clues what's wrong?

    2) it won't even let me start HL single player if i'm not connected to the internet, anyways around this? ... eg, what if i want to play on another computer that doesn't have an internet connection ...
