  • Interesting idea if you're rich....

Would it work out pretty well to use triple head with projectors? Have a huge ass wall, and just play surround gaming? Projectors are a bit on the expensive side for this, but there wouldn't be any problems with seperation between screens

Its a droolworthy Idea that has popped quite a few times.
Actually I think it was about 30 seconds after we found about surround gaming

Oops, my mistake. But that would be about $9k.... since good projectors are running around $3,000 these days. And you'd have to have a HUGE wall....

Really, I was curious if anyone has tried this.....

Weren't Matrox actually doing this at a show about a year or so ago? I forget what game they were demoing (some kind of space shooter) - IIRC everyone who saw it was slipping up in their own drool.

Hmmm. How about a curved piece of glass that sits on ya desk that wraps around you and has three projectors lined up behind it rear-projection style. I think i saw it at research.microsoft.com. It looked cool. They even claimed it improved productivity! It had funny lenses so that it all lined up nicely. If anyone can dig up the picture that would be good, i've looked for an hour now and cant find it.

I've seen the glass lenses someone made to go between their three monitors on here somewhere.

How sad it is that the potential for doing triple-head is so underrated. After playing a few games that support it well, it's VERY hard to go back to one monitor (for instance when I go to a network party, I don't lug all three 21" monitors around...) Although, I think if Matrox releases another card that's faster than the current Parhelia and supports the three displays, they should give a discount on all the people who want to upgrade it from the Original Parhelia for all the crap that we've had to go through....
