Just completed the first level on 'Heroic'.

At 800x600 is is still jerky. The controls are much more natural than the XBOX version. And as expected, the use of the mouse makes it much, much easier to get those head shots.

However, during the first level I encounterd many a glitch. For example, several of the goddies and baddies were running around headless. Perhaps it is my 8500, or the fact that this copy is *aquired*, but the game doesn't as refined as the original.

I doubt i will play it again. To be honest, I didn't think THAT much of it first time around.

    *EDIT*

I see there is a 1.01 update. Perhaps that will fix the issues.

Don't dog the game if you stole it and it doesn't work, try the real thing and then get back to me.

The pre-beta version played ok, sort of, except for the lack of textures... haven't gotten around to the final version though. (i didnt see any headless people running around, or experience any BSOD's)

I've been playing it, and it works just fine with the 1.01 patch. It's playing mostly smoothly on my system.

No intention of buiying it cos I have the xbox version all paid for However I just been playing it on my PC (Barton 2500+ @ 1.91Ghz, Parhelia) and it runs great at 1024x768. A little slow down here and there, but no worse than the xbox does!

Bit of an odd issue tho of I have EAX on and hardware audio on my nforce 2 (should it even work at all cos it's not creative?) then I get just the echos for some voices, not the voice itself.

I have some issues with the sound. The mouths of the characters are still moving, but some of the dialog is cut off. (I have the same problem with BloodRayne, but at least that game has subtitles). Anyone else with an Audigy 2 that has this problem?

@leech i had a similar problem with SBlive card in win2k, i couldnt hear dialogs even though i could hear music (this was is in No One Lives Forever 2) completely removing the drivers and reinstalling the latest creative drivers and then installing the latest directx solved my problem. hope this helps

I had that with my Live! in XP. I had to disable EAX for the voices to work.

The sound one with NOLF2 and probaly halo is very likely a codec issue...

For me using 2.04f of ks codec pack fixed the problem..(its probably an early version that casued it)

You can find the bug report in the ms knowlegebase, it does effect a lot of games, usually the speach cuts out....

Microsoft support is here to help you with Microsoft products. Find how-to articles, videos, and training for Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft 365, Windows, Surface, and more.

According to that page, they don't use any codecs. Odd. And of course I have the latest Audigy 2 drivers. Unless there are some that came out within the last week.

Weird just installed it, it says it can initialise directx or something...

At a wim I turned on my 2nd diplay and tried the game aqain.... It initialises and play well , but inisists on going on the second display?

I have an 8500, it will refuses to play unless I am in dual head mode, and even then it will only start on the second head but the sound is good $^&^%#$

I just heard the sound glitchys on a freinds computer , indeed I do not think it is codec related...

NOLF2 was a codec issue. I got that fixed early on.

For Halo, I had to turn off EAX on my Audigy, or the last second or so of every bit of dialog was cut off.
