  • OpenGL + G200 + Win2k = lockup

    I'm trying to run this OpenGL game that i'm making but sometimes at startup my system locks up, i hear music but the screen is black and the mouse/keyboard is frozen. I have to do a hard reset. This seems to be random and happens only sometimes.

    (The game btw, is <a href="http://transitexec.sf.net">transit executive</a>)

    it seems to happen in
    glClear(GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT | GL_DEPTH_BUFFER_BIT);
    everything seems fine and it doesn't seem like the code is wrong. Also it doesn't happen to anyone else. Even if it was the code, it shouldn't lock up my system, at most the program should crash.

    This never happened in 98, only in 2k.

    I have tried drivers 5.72, 5.86 and 5.88 but it's the same result. i'm starting to think it's VIA but i've tried many different 4-in-1 drivers with no luck.

    i even went into bios and changed to AGP 1x, CAS to 3, and DRAM Frequency to 66mhz, didn't seem to help.

    what should i do? i know the G200 is ancient, but nevertheless it shouldn't do this.

    thx, Nehal
