  • DVDMAX difference between G450 and G400?

Hi? I have a question about difference in DVDMAX between G450 and G400's.

    Currently, I have G450 16MB Dual Head.
I have main display set at 1600x1200@70Hz, although my monitor supports up to 85Hz @ 1600x1200.

The only reason why I am using 70Hz in this resolution is that DVD-MAX feature only works at that refresh rate. Above that DVD-MAX ain't working.

So here's my question. Due to this issue, I am planning to get one of G400 Max at eBay, but I am not sure if DVDMAX feature works at the resolution of 1600x1200@85.

Does anyone have any expierence with it?

    Please share your idea.

    Thanks.

max resolution/refresh I could get DVD-MAX functionality with on my vanilla G400 32MB was 1440x1080x32@81 Hz (or was it 1440x1080x16@81 Hz?).

at 1600x1200 that would be significantly lower than 81 Hz.

I think the G400max can do it. Unfortunately I don't have my 2nd monitor around at the moment to try, but I just set primary to 1600x1200x32@75Hz and I was enable to click the enable dvdmax button and it supposedly worked.

I think you're also hitting the display resolution limit at truecolor 70Hz with your card since it only has 16MB of memory.

Hmm.. Currently I have G450 16MB Dual Head. As I said, I am running resolution of 1600x1200@70Hz, 32Bit Color. This is the maximum resolution I can have DVD-MAX feature.

What's interesting is that even at 1600x1200@85Hz, 32Bit color, the dvd-max fuction on my display panel is still enabled.

And low-res movie files can be viewd from TV with DVD-MAX in that resolution. Only high quality DIVX files are not showing on TV.

But, just as I said, @70Hz 32 bit color, all the movie files (including high-res divx files) are on my TV.

Can G400MAX show all the high-res movies at 1600x1200@85Hz, 32bit color?

Does anyone know it for sure?

        Please share your expierence.

        Thanks.
