  • Mandrake 9.1 or 9.2 help

    Ok,

Here's my new problem. I run an AMD K6 II on the system that I'm trying to install Mandrake Linux 9.1 or 9.2 on. Now there is this error that when you select the install packages after doing so it gives you a "no basesystem" error then puts you back to the disk partationing area. There is supposded to be a patch to correct this problem. They say at the splash screen to press F1 then type "patch" and follow installation as normal, however when I do this it never reads my floppy for the patch. so what do I do??? can anyone help? Thanx a ton in advance

Can you put the patch on the floppy or something?

you're supposed to put the patch on a floppy and type patch at the installation splash screen, but when I do, it never reads the floppy, almost as though the floppy's not mounted...

Ahh, i see. Heck, based on my experience with Mandrake, I wouldn't be suprised if it were just a bug.

First time I have heard of it.
          Is that k6-2 only bug?

All I can suggest is you may have deslected a required component, or perhap's the install CD is corrupt...did the MD5 hash match your downloaded iso?

You could try selecting an alternative installer eg text ...etc

            Try FreeBSD 5.1 instead ?

But from the sounds of things you may have other issues...

Any ideas on how long 'til MDK 9.2 final is out? I had to kill my 9.1 install because it kept dying on me (not sure why exactly yet... Could have something to do with my DSL modem messing up and now I can't ping ANYTHING through it..) So anyhow, I hosed it, installed Libranet, couldn't quite get the port forwarding working on that, went to RH9, couldn't get it working on that either, went back to Libranet, then finally gave up and just slapped it into my WinXP box. ARRGH!

So now I'm thinking I'd like to get MDK 9.2 (since I've misplaced my MDK 9.1 disks...)
