Sapphire site

Hi all. I need a bit of help...I've bought a Radeon, but the drivers included into the CD give problems with my rig.

I'm trying to download the new drivers from Sapphire site, but it seems my connection has a few problems reaching it.


Can someone see if those adresses are reacheable?

Both are available.
Why don't you download the latest drivers from ATI's site ?
You're linking to catalyst 3.6, while the latest version is 3.7.

Don't get the ATI 3.7 drivers.

They don't reduce visual quality.
They don't remove or add fog when not required.
They don't intercept screen capture requests.

The 3.7's are pretty iffy. The OpenGL is no better than 3.6, which is to say worse than 3.5 - and any other fixes are dubious at best. ATI owners are demanding a 3.7 hotfix, or an early release of 3.8.

The only real prob I've had is the 4 monitors instead of two. Dunno if that is deliberate or not.
UT2003 is a lot better although I found one map to be a chugger.
I think Gurm is refering to the Opengl texture hot fix.

Can someone d'load that driver for me? It seems that there is a problem accessing Sapphire site from here...

The 3.7 are not that good...and I'd like to use Sapphire own drivers.

Sapphire driver CDs consist of....

Catalyst Drivers. Often a relatively old version, because the CDs were pressed some time before the card being sold.

Drizzt, get them from ATI....

I'm running CAT3.5s right now. CAT 3.8 and a MMC refresh are waiting in the wings...the primary concern for 3.7s seem to be OGL. They fixed a lot of things in D3D, however.

I dunno. With Cat3.7 lots of games have been crapping out on me - I think it's the interaction with directsound that's the problem somehow. The Halo Beta and Wolf:ET both lock up and soundcycle, forcing a hard lock and reboot.

I get that with Dungeon Siege.
Don't know if it's the newer catalyst versions or the change to a HT CPU.
Last time it worked fine on a P4 2.4B with catalyst 3.4.

Had no problems with Cat 3.7's m,yself although I only play:

PlanetSide
UT2K3
RavenShield
Global Ops
Diablo 2 (Come on 1.10)

at the moment, I might reinstall Dungeon Siege to see what happens with it, was quite fun last time I played through.

3.7 Catalysts are working fine here, except for the known "OpenGL 16-bit textures by default" issue/feature/bug. At the moment, I am mostly playing Madden 2004 so OpenGL is not all that important to me. Speed seems decent on this driver set and I have no other problems to report.
