Okay, amdfix.sys makes the copy protection in Max Payne believe that I'm an evil copy protection cracker and refuses to let me run the game.

Renaming it and rebooting fixes it

But Now i really wonder what it is really suposed to do?!?!?!?

Google only gives that it seriously ficks up safedisk2 games and that it has something to do with ulead apps, but not exactly what and why

anyone got some info on it?

It's a SiS-installed file, for me. The SiS AGP patcher installs it. I imagine it's some bizarre workaround for Athlons under wierd conditions, as it causes more problems than it cures.
