  • To P or Not to P?

    Hi All.... 1st Post

Been digging through the archives in the forum on the Parhelia.... Trying to decide if this is the right card for my new system.

I've noticed that a lot of you don't like ABIT MB's, I can't agree. I've used their BH6 for years without problems. My new system is built on the IC7-G.

    1. Are there problems with the P and this MB?

    2. What are the advantages with the 256Mb version? I haven't found any info on this.

    3. Any Problems with using 3 Samsung 191t LCDs? Can you rotate the screens with Pivot Pro for a 3072 x 1280 display?

I'm not a big gamer so I'm not too worried with frame rates as long as the games are playable. I'm looking for quality 2D and decent 3D. I don't upgrade that often, so I'll have to live with this for a few years (it's replacing a P2 300 @ 450).

    What I'm running..... IC7-G with a P4 2.4C @ 3.3 (1100 FSB rock solid), Sapphire 9000 Pro 128Mb, Gig of Corsair PC3700, 2 WD 120SE's in SATA Raid 0, etc... with Win 2000 OS.

    Please give me input,

    Thanks in advance.

For all of you ABIT haters... my caps don't leak!!!!

I had an Abit KT7 that still works with my old G400 (now my GF's machine) No real problems since I bought it in 2000. That aside I bought the Parhelia 128MB retail and it wouldn't work in the KT7. I had the choice of sending it back to matrox for them to modify it so that it could work with it or upgrade my mobo. I had been itching to upgrade so I got the ASRock K7S8X. Wonderful picture quality. UT2003, FIFA2003, NFSHP2 all work well. Pivot pro will pivot but as it is done in software it is slower responding. If you search here or in matrox's forum you should find what Haig (matrox tech support god) said regarding most of your questions. I have checked and the KT7's caps are intact. I think I got one of the first ones off the line before they switched to cheap caps
