  • AGP Textures Acceleration not available in Directx

    hello,
I have looked in countless forums to find the right answer to help fix this problem. I have had my Directx Diagnostic Tool (now Version 8) Display Tab tell me my AGP Textures do not work. You know when you run those tests in Directx Diagnosis. It stopped working right some time ago. I have lots of other program in my computers, many for my video camera in which I use the Marvel G400. I have read in forum where some people think it is the SBLIVE sound card card and an IRQ, others say that it can be caused by some video programs and and program like Netmeeting. Well, even with those programs off, not running at all, or even removed, my AGP Texture Acceleration does not work. That area for Directx Diagnosis is grey out, the other programs and tests D3D Accleration and Direct Draw Acceleration both work, no problems. Anyone have this problem? Do you have other video programs, cameras, video programs, etc. ?? This is a very hard problem to track down and fix. Thanx.

    Hello,
it appears that if I play a game that needs D3D, it works good. If I play a game that needs the AGP Texture it fights with the D3D. The D3D will be unavaialbe and the Texture will, or vise versa, too damend messed up and complicated. it just appears they don't get along with each others. When I fly Falcon 4, a flight sim, yes I know if I start talking about games it should be discussed in a games forum, but the Marvel G400 is a video card, and all the functions ont he Marvel G400 card are not limited to just video applications, not is the card just for gaming, it should work in both all applications, games, etc,. without problems. I have been working on trying al kinds of things, but it only leaves me puzzled. I am not ready to reformat yet. But starting on a clean slate is always nice. All of those tests in Directx worked up to the point when I installed the Matrox video drivers, then the AGP texture test was greyed out. You know when you first uninstall the video drivers, install the standard VGA drivers, wel that is at the point everything was working. They I installed the drivers for the Marvel G400 and that AGP texture test whoed it stopped working. The other Directx Test work. Not greyed out and past the tests.
So, what I am saying, I am still puzzled. Oh well, Thanx for your input, I appreciate it.

Would the AGP aperture size in the BIOS have an influence on this?

I am watching the TV and it's worthless.
If I switch it on it is even worse.

One other thought: is there an IRQ assigned to your G400? If the BIOS is not set to do this some boards will not assign one.

          Hi,
IRQ for the Marvel G400 is set to 9 by itself (with pci steering) I have even removed things like SBLIVE Emulation to free up IRQ 5, but that did not make a difference, in fact I have tried so many things I am just tired and burned out. Too tired, I give up for now.

Have you tried re-installing DirectX yet? If that doesn't work Ghost your present installation and try reinstalling Windows to a naked drive before assuming it's hardware related.
