There was a thread (http://arstechnica.infopop.net/OpenTopic/page?a=tpc&s=50009562&f=67909965&m=1740914085&r=9670955085#9670955085) on Ars and Hat Monster (arsian) suggested that Ati cards have poor framebuffer speed compared to nV and he'd like to hear some Matrox scores.

Since I'm on ghetto replacement, I'd like to see some scores from people with decent systems.

Benchmark is here, it's only 87kB.

Not too good, either. And yes, it's a driver thing. Add to that, that framebuffer reading is only needed in very special selected scenarios and nearly never occurs in the "real world" (=3D games). Then you know why Matrox and ATI don't spend resources to speed this up.
